Ayamtae Sessions

The climate is changing. The ecology of the Earth is being destroyed and manipulated by modern society. These changes are also bringing about the disappearance of the most ancient cultures of the planet, the cultures that are most connected to the Earth. You can debate all you want as to the causes and the process, but these are realities of our time. Here, we of Wapapura believe that the real problem is a lack of communication. Modern civilization no longer cares to listen or communicate with the Earth and is therefore in the process of destroying that which makes all life possible.

Music is an advanced form of communication that all people of this planet share. A form of communication that uses sound. Sound simply being vibration of the air at different frequencies. What better way to communicate with the Earth then with one of her own languages, the Air.

We of Wapapura want to use music to communicate with the Earth to give thanks for everything it gives us and ask forgiveness for all of our activities that damage her.

In these sessions we want to take musicians to places of great ecological importance so they can play their music with the Earth as the spectator. The places we choose will be Ayamtae spaces. Ayamtae is a word from the Shuar, an indigenous community of the Ecuadorian rainforest. It means place of great energy where one goes to reconnect with the Earth. A place to be in peace and leave recharged with the power necessary to continue on your way.

It will be impossible to tell if this will be helpful in confronting the ecological changes that are facing us, but possibly this can simply help us once again recreate a positive connection with the Earth. A communication of respect and harmony.

To not create any lasting physical impact on these environments the sessions will not be concerts. They will be recordings where only the musicians and the production crew will be present.
